Commercial Vehicles

The City of Greater Sudbury has major highways flowing through it. Coupled with the high number of businesses and mining within Sudbury, the number of commercial motor vehicles entering our communities is increased. To ensure an effective, holistic response to the variety of vehicles on our roadways, Officers of the Traffic Management Unit work in partnership with the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of the Environment.

Assigned officers are responsible for the enforcement of matters involving commercial motor vehicles. Officers trained by the Ministry in CVSA (Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance) conduct commercial motor vehicle inspections, enforce load security, weight/dimension regulations, and document requirements. In addition to regular enforcement efforts, several commercial motor vehicle inspection projects are undertaken annually.

The Ministry of Transportation further assists Collision Reconstructionists at collision scene involving commercial motor vehicles.
