UPDATE 2 - Arrest Warrant for 32 year old Kyle Smith - Homicide Investigation

UPDATE 2

Around 5:05 p.m. this evening, September 9, 2021, we received a call regarding a Robbery that had just taken place at a convenience store on Falconbridge Road. Information provided was that two individuals entered the convenience store, threatened the employee, pepper sprayed multiple people inside the store and stole various items before fleeing the area on foot prior to police arrival.

Three individuals were transported to hospital with minor injuries as a result of being pepper sprayed.

Three Individuals Arrested and Charged After Assault on Murray Street

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on September 8, 2021, we were called in relation to an Assault in the area of Murray Street in Greater Sudbury. Information provided was that individuals could be heard fighting and that someone had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, Officers located a 43 year old woman who had sustained what are believed to be stab wounds and a 43 year old man who had sustained injuries as a result of being punched and kicked. Both individuals were transported to hospital by City of Greater Sudbury...

As a result of the ongoing investigation, Detectives from the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division have identified the man believed to be responsible for the violent attack.

An Arrest Warrant has been issued for 32 year old Edgar “Kyle" Smith (image attached) for the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

• First Degree Murder
• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
• Failure to Stop at the Scene of a Collision

Early Morning Collision Involving a Pedestrian Being Investigated as a Homicide

Around 2:30 a.m. this morning, September 7, 2021, we received a call regarding a Collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Lasalle Boulevard and Notre Dame Avenue. The driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene in the vehicle prior to Police arrival. The 30 year old pedestrian was transported to hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services with critical injuries. Unfortunately he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

28 year old Man Involved in Robbery and Erratic Driving Incident Arrested

Around 10:30 a.m. on September 2, 2021, we received a call from an establishment on Riverside Drive in relation to a Robbery that had just occurred. Information provided was that a man had driven a truck into the front of the building, attended the pharmacy inside and stole narcotics along with other items. The driver then fled the scene in the vehicle.

Minutes later we received a call regarding a collision involving the same vehicle where the driver fled the scene in the vehicle. Multiple 9-1-1...
