Youths suspected of throwing rocks on Maley Drive

Just before 2:10 p.m. on September 4, 2024, officers were dispatched to Maley Drive, West of the Barrydowne Road roundabout in relation to a Mischief.

Information provided was that a community member was driving eastbound on Maley Drive, West of the Barrydowne Road roundabout when a large rock struck the windshield of the vehicle causing substantial damage. Over the Labour Day long weekend, officers arrested and charged nine drivers for impaired-related offences and laid numerous charges under both the Highway Traffic Act and the Criminal Code of Canada. Youths throwing rocks on Maley Drive leads to serious collision

Shortly before 1:40 p.m. on August 28, 2024, the Greater Sudbury Police Service received 9-1-1 calls reporting that a group of teens were throwing rocks onto Maley Drive from a large rock cut. While the complaints were coming in, a collision involving a motorcycle was reported in the west bound lanes as the driver of the motorcycle lost control and entered the ditch.
