Residential Fire on Park Avenue in Hanmer

Around 3:55 a.m. on December 23, 2023, members of the City of Greater Sudbury Fire Services and the Greater Sudbury Police Service were dispatched to an address on Park Avenue in Hanmer in relation to an explosion and residential fire.
The explosion and subsequent fire affected three houses in the area. The fire was extinguished by firefighters.

On September 16th, 2023, just before 1:00 a.m., the Greater Sudbury Police Service received a call for service in relation to a Weapons complaint. Information provided was that three men, one of which was armed with a handgun, were observed entering a residence on Bruce Avenue in Greater Sudbury in what was believed to be a home invasion. 34-year-old arrested and charged after multiple people stabbed at agency on Larch Street

Just after 11:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to an agency on Larch Street in relation to a Weapons complaint. Information provided was that an individual had attended the agency, became upset, stabbed multiple people and then fled on foot.
Upon arrival, officers located three individuals who had sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services.

Officer on bike patrol arrests 53-year-old for trafficking drugs in downtown core

Just before 2:00 p.m. on November 29, 2023, a member of our Community Response Unit (CRU) was on a bike patrol in the downtown core, when the officer witnessed an individual selling what were believed to be illicit drugs to another person. The officer was able to approach the two individuals without being detected and witnessed the exchange of cash for drugs.
