Bookkeeper caught cooking the books for personal gain

In early June, Detectives from the Financial Crimes Unit of our Criminal Investigation Division began a fraud investigation into an employee at a local business who was believed to be using company funds and forging accounting entries for personal financial gain.

Around 4:00 p.m. on July 8, 2023, officers were dispatched to a sexual assault. Information provided was that a youth in our community met an individual from Southern Ontario through a social media application and the individual had traveled to Greater Sudbury to meet the youth.

GSPS Launches 2nd Annual Truth and Reconciliation Relay

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is proud to launch our second annual Truth and Reconciliation Relay and we are thrilled to say that this year is going to be even bigger! We began this initiative as an internal event for GSPS members in 2022 with a goal of 10,000 km collectively and 100 participants.

Officers from the Greater Sudbury Police Service Traffic Management Unit and Patrol Operations will be on patrol again this Canada Day regulating the safe flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Roadways around Bell Park, Science North, Health Sciences North and several intersecting streets will be monitored for prohibited parking.

Vehicles parked in prohibited areas, grassed areas, sidewalks, or obstructing driveways and/or intersections will be ticketed and/or towed.

Around 2:35 p.m. on June 28, 2023, a motor vehicle collision occurred on Notre Dame Avenue near the entrance to Sudbury Kartways involving a van and a motorcycle. It is believed that the collision occurred because several youths were playing “chicken” on the roadway.
