CRU officers arrest 37-year-old for trafficking drugs during proactive bike patrol

Around 5:15 p.m. on September 10, 2023, officers in our Community Response Unit were on bike patrol in the downtown core conducting focused patrols in high-complaint, high-traffic areas.
While cycling through a walkway on Larch Street, officers found an individual believed to be trafficking drugs as there were drugs, a scale and a large amount of cash in plain view.

September 11, 2023, marks 10 years since Meagan Pilon went missing from the New Sudbury area.
Meagan was 15 years old at the time of her disappearance and was described as being 5’10” tall, around 140 lbs., with dark hair, hazel eyes, and a small scar on her right upper lip.

Around 5:30 p.m. on September 9, 2023, a group of individuals were riding ATVs on a trail North of Cote Boulevard in Hanmer when one of the riders became separated from the group.

On September 6, 2023, members of our Police Community Response Centre began a fraud investigation into purchases of lumber from a local business using multiple stolen credit cards.
During the month of August, the local business received three orders for lumber. Each order was made with a different stolen credit card, however, the lumber was delivered to an address prior to the financial institutions notifying the business.

Around 6:55 p.m. on September 5, 2023, officers were dispatched to a residence on Baker Street in relation to a weapons complaint. Information provided was that a group of individuals were involved in a disturbance inside the residence and that one of the individuals may have been shot. The individuals responsible for the shooting fled the scene prior to police arrival.
