86-year old Man Charged with Distribution of Sexually Explicit Materials Involving Youth

Since the year 2000, the Greater Sudbury Police Service has been receiving reports of incidents involving jars containing sexually explicit handwritten materials found in various locations throughout the Vermilion Lake area of Greater Sudbury.

On Monday, July 17th, 2023, Officers from our Traffic Management Unit were conducting a focused patrol at Moonlight Avenue and Hines Street in Greater Sudbury in response to multiple traffic complaints from area residents. While doing so, at around 4:45 p.m., Officers observed a black Ford Edge travelling southbound on Moonlight Ave at a high rate of speed. The driver was clocked at 82 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

Around 4:00 p.m. on July 8, 2023, officers were dispatched to a sexual assault. Information provided was that a youth in our community met an individual from Southern Ontario through a social media application and the individual had traveled to Greater Sudbury to meet the youth.
