Taryn is from Michipicoten First Nations, born and raised in Greater Sudbury. She worked at the N’Swakamok Native Friendship Centre for seven years as the Indigenous Family and Youth Court Worker. Around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2020, a woman was seen standing in the parking lot of the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes off of Van Horne Street when a man exited the driver’s seat of a parked grey/silver four-door sedan (picture attached), grabbed the woman and forced her into the car. The woman appeared to be crying once she was inside the vehicle. The man got back into the driver’s seat and drove towards the downtown core with the woman in the front passenger seat.

Second Man Arrested and Charged in Connection to Cedar Street Homicide

*UPDATE*

On November 15, 2019, a 17 year old young man was fatally stabbed on Cedar Street in Greater Sudbury.

On November 16, 2019, 18 year old Steffin Rees was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder.

As a result of further investigation by Detectives in our Criminal Investigations Division, an 18 year old man was arrested on April 5, 2020 and charged with the following under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • Obstruct Justice

COVID-19 Education and Enforcement Team

We truly appreciate all of the sacrifices being made by our community and our community members in order to comply with the Provincial and Federal Legislation that has been put into place to stop the spread of COVID-19.

We also know that many of our community members are concerned that individuals and businesses are not following the Orders that have been issued.

TMU Officer Takes Out the Trash

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on April 5, 2020, we were called to a disturbance involving a man believed to have a conducted energy weapon (CEW) in his possession on Adie Street in Greater Sudbury. Upon arrival the Officer saw two men fleeing the scene on foot.

The Officer followed the men to the intersection of Lansdowne Road and Frood Road where one of the men was seen throwing something into a garbage. Both men were stopped by the Officer and the garbage can was checked. The Officer found a CEW in the...
