Looking to speak to driver of pick-up truck involved in collision on Burton Avenue

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is looking to speak to the driver of a white pick-up truck involved in a collision shortly after 1:30 a.m. on November 9, 2023 on Burton Avenue.

Information provided was that just prior to the collision, an individual was seen walking South on Burton Avenue before laying down across the road. UPDATE

Based on the preliminary results of the post-mortem conducted through the Coroner’s Office, the individual located deceased on November 8, 2023 died as the result of blunt-force injuries.

The deceased individual is 40-year-old, Carol Fournier (image of Carol attached). Our deepest condolences go out to Carol’s family and friends. We ask that you respect their privacy during this difficult and emotional time.

Detectives investigating homicide after body located in wooded area

Just before 2:40 p.m. on November 8, 2023, officers were dispatched to the wooded area West of McNeil Boulevard, North of the railway tracks after a community member located what was believed to be a deceased person.

Officers arrived on scene and found the body of a 40-year-old woman who they confirmed to be deceased. Her name will not be released at this time. A post-mortem will be conducted today, November 9, 2023, through the Coroner’s Office to assist in determining the cause of death.

On November 6, 2023, the Traffic Management Unit concluded its investigation into the collision on Skead Road on October 7, 2023, that resulted in four youths being transported to hospital, two with serious injuries.
