On February 3, 2025, officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence on Frood Road. Information received was that multiple individuals broke into the residence and assaulted one of the residents.
Upon arrival, officers located a 30-year-old, man who had sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedics where he remains in critical condition.
Patrol Officers checked the immediate area and located one individual matching the description of those believed to be responsible given by witnesses. The individual was arrested by officers and transported to police headquarters.
Upon searching the individual, officers located approximately 50 grams of what is believed to be Fentanyl and around $990 in cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is $1,000.
Currently, police believe there is at least one other man involved in the incident whose identity is unknown. This incident is believed to be an isolated and targeted incident.
18-year-old, Colmant-Elie Masena from Ottawa has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA):
- Attempt Murder
- Weapons Dangerous
- Possession of a Prohibited weapon
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance
- Break and Enter with Intent
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
He attended Bail Court on February 3, 2025, to answer to the charges.
