Police Records

Release of Information office is open by appointments only. To request a police report, please call 705-675-9171 extension 6704.

If you require a copy of a police record, such as general occurrence reports, motor vehicle collision reports, officer notebook notes, witness statements, or digital recordings, you may submit your request to Customer Service by filling out a Records Request Form along with one valid piece of identification (must include full name, date of birth, photograph and signature). Payment will be required upon the completion of the request based on our current fee schedule.

Records are available to individuals directly involved or spoken to within the police occurrence. If you wish to request a record on behalf of another person, signed consent is required from that individual or proof and evidence that you are a person authorized to make the request.

Severances may be applied to the records based on the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Fees for Services

Effective January 1, 2025, the Fees for Services provided by the Greater Sudbury Police Service as approved by the Police Services Board.

*As per Bill 13, Amendments to the Police Records Check Reform Act (PRCRA), volunteer Criminal Record Check (CRC) and volunteer Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) results will be provided at no charge by the police service upon the submission of a volunteer letter from the organization. If the application is made online, there will be a $3.00 processing fee by the third-party provider Agile Records.

Please note that expedited service will not be available for Volunteer CRC, CRJMC or Record Suspension applications, Destruction of Fingerprint and Photograph Records or Insurance Confirmation Requests.
