Around 10:15 p.m. on October 16, 2022, Officers attended the area of Mountain Street in relation to a man wanted for a Robbery that occurred on October 7, 2022. Officers conducted a vehicle stop in order to arrest the man. Once the vehicle was stopped the man attempted to flee from the Officers, however, he was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Upon searching the man, Officers located a quantity of illicit substances believed to be Methamphetamine and Fentanyl.
24 year old Tyler Closs has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances (CDSA) Act;
- Robbery
- Unauthorized Use of Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order x6
- Resist Peace Officer
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance x2
He was held in Police custody overnight and he will attend Bail Court today, October 17, 2022 to answer to the charges.
Shortly after 4:00 a.m. on October 7, 2022, Tyler Closs was traveling in a vehicle with another man when he displayed what has been described as a handgun. He forced the man out of the vehicle, began to physically assault the man and then stole an undisclosed amount of money and various personal items from the man.
The 48 year old man sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident.
This is believed to be a targeted incident as the two individuals are known to each other.
