Just before 5:00 a.m. on October 3rd, 2024, police were dispatched to an establishment on Elgin Street in relation to an Unwanted Person. Information provided indicated a man was behaving in an aggressive manner toward several individuals at the establishment, causing a disturbance by banging on doors and refusing to leave the premises.
Officers arrived on scene and located the unwanted person who was escorted off the premises, during which he became combative with Police. When Officers attempted to effect an arrest, he was uncooperative and attempted to flee on foot. During this interaction the man continued to resist arrest and proceeded to assault Officers. Both Officers required medical attention for their injuries.
Eventually, Officers were able to take the man into custody and transport him to police headquarters.
29-year old, William Elliott has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Assault Peace Officer (x2)
- Resist Arrest
- Cause a Disturbance
William Elliott was recently arrested and charged by the Greater Sudbury Police Service on October 2nd, 2024, in relation to a separate incident at a residence on Dana Street. When Officers arrived on scene and tried to escort Elliott off the premises, he was uncooperative. He was charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
- Resist Arrest
Following the incident on October 3rd, 2024, William Elliott has since been remanded into the custody of the Sudbury District Jail and will appear in court on October 10th, 2024 to answer to the charges.
