Shortly after 8:35 a.m. on December 30, 2024, officers were dispatched to a weapons complaint at a residential building on College Street. Information provided was that three individuals were involved in a verbal altercation leading to one of the individuals pointing what was described as a handgun at the other individuals. The individual with the alleged handgun then left the residential unit and attended a separate unit inside the same building.
Due to the possible presence of a firearm, officers from Patrol Operations set-up containment of the building while awaiting the arrival of the Emergency Response Unit, K9 Unit and Negotiator.
Shortly after 11:10 a.m. officers from the ERU and K9 Unit made verbal contact with three individuals inside the unit who exited the building and surrendered to police without incident. Officers then cleared the unit to ensure that no one else was inside.
Detectives from the Major Crime Section of the Criminal Investigation Division applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence. As a result of the search warrant, officers located an imitation handgun.
