Just after 11:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to an agency on Larch Street in relation to a Weapons complaint. Information provided was that an individual had attended the agency, became upset, stabbed multiple people and then fled on foot.
Upon arrival, officers located three individuals who had sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services.
A description of the individual responsible for the attack was provided to our 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Centre and broadcasted to officers responding to the incident.
Members of our Emergency Response Unit located and arrested the person believed to be responsible on Minto Street at Larch Street. Upon searching the individual, officers located what is believed to be the knife used during the attack.
The 34-year-old has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;
- Aggravated Assault x3
- Weapons Dangerous x3
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
The individual will be held in custody overnight and will attend Bail Court tomorrow, December 1, 2023 to answer to the charges. The individual’s name cannot be provided as the information has not been sworn to through the court process.
