Just before 2:30 a.m. on October 12, 2024, an altercation took place between an individual and a group of people in the area of Minto Street and Larch Street. During the altercation, a man displayed a knife and stabbed a man in the back. The individual fled prior to police arriving on scene.
The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and has been released. Through the investigation the individual responsible for the attack was identified by officers.
Later that day, the individual believed to be responsible, 35-year-old, Devin Corbiere was located and arrested by members of Patrol Operations.
As a result of this incident, Devin Corbiere has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Assault with a Weapon X 4
In addition, Devin Corbiere was wanted for a Robbery that occurred on October 4, 2024. He has been charged accordingly.
Devin Corbiere attended Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) Court and remains in custody. He will appear at Bail Court today, Tuesday October 15, 2024, to answer to the charges.
The victim and accused were not known to each other prior to the incident, however this is targeted attack due to the altercation that took place. There is no further risk to the general public.
