Around 4:45 p.m. on November 25, 2024, officers were dispatched to Lorne Street at Martindale Road in relation to two collisions involving the same vehicle. Information provided was that the vehicle was traveling West on Lorne Street when it rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The driver of the vehicle then drove around the stopped vehicle onto Martindale Road where it struck the wigwags for the railroad crossing.

Officers arrived on scene and located the driver in the driver’s seat. Upon speaking with the driver, officers detected signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for Dangerous Operation and Impaired Operation and was transported to police headquarters.

While at police headquarters, the driver assaulted a police officer prior to blowing three times over the legal limit. The driver was additionally charged with Assault Peace Officer.

The driver was released on an appearance notice with a court date of December 11, 2024. The driver was also given notice of a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle involved in the incident was impounded for seven days.

Shortly before 12:15 a.m. this morning, November 26, 2024, officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Dominion Drive in Hanmer. Information provided was that a community member saw the vehicle in the ditch and the driver appeared to be stumbling around the vehicle.

Officers arrived on scene and located the driver. Upon speaking with the driver, officers detected signs of impairment. The officers administered an approved screening device and the driver registered a fail. The driver was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to police headquarters.

Once at headquarters, the driver was read a breath demand and refused to provide a sample. The driver was further charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.

Officers confirmed that the driver, 38-year-old, Warren MacDougall was the same driver involved in the two collisions the day prior. He was additionally charged with Driving While Under Suspension.

He was held in custody and appeared in Bail Court today to answer to the charges.
