Just before 11:25 p.m. last night, October 24, 2022, Police were dispatched to the area of the Maley Drive ramp heading East just off of Notre Dame Avenue in relation to a single vehicle collision involving a Black Ford F-150.
Upon arrival, Officers located two passengers in the vehicle who had sustained injuries as a result of the collision. A 39 year old man was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and a 19 year old man was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
A K9 track was conducted in order to locate the driver of the vehicle who fled the scene prior to Police arrival. Shortly after 12:30 a.m., this morning, October 25, 2022, Officers located the driver in the bush off of the Maley Drive extension.
Upon speaking with the man, Officers detected signs of impairment and as a result, he was taken into Police custody.
45 year old Stephen Koper has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Highway Traffic Act;
- Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
- Fail to Stop at an Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm
- Operation While Impaired
- Operation Causing Bodily Harm
- Failure to Comply with Release Order
- Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code
- Driving While Under Suspension
- Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle
- Fail to Properly Wear Seatbelt
- Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
He was held in Police custody overnight in order to attend Bail Court today, October 25, 2022.
