On May 25, 2022, Detectives entered into a Human Trafficking-related Investigation involving a youth under the age of 16. Due to the sensitive nature of the incident and in order to protect the Survivor’s identity, no further details will be provided.

On May 26, 2022, Detectives from our Integrated Crime Team and our Missing Persons Investigator from the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division were assisted by members of our Emergency Response Unit in executing a Search Warrant at an address in the Lockerby area. 

As a result of the Search Warrant and investigation into the matter, 54 year old Donovan McEwan was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Luring a Person Under the Age of 18
  • Communicating with Person Under the Age of 18 for the Purpose of Obtaining Sexual Services
  • Procuring Sexual Services from Person Under 18
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I Substance
  • Trafficking of Cocaine
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

He appeared in Bail Court today, May 27, 2022 to answer to the charges and he has since been remanded into custody.
