UPDATE

On August 25, 2022, through the ongoing investigation, Detectives from the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division, arrested 56 year old Michael Zanier in relation to additional complaints of inappropriate behaviour and touching involving students under the age of 16. Due to the sensitive nature of the incident and in order to protect the Survivors’ identities, no further details will be provided.

Michael Zanier has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • Sexual Assault x5
  • Sexual Interference x5

He appeared in Bail Court on August 25, 2022 to answer to the charges.

Based on the investigation, there are concerns that there may be other Survivors.

On June 23rd, 2022 we received a complaint of inappropriate behaviour and touching at St. Charles College, involving a 56-year old male teacher and students under the age of 16. Due to the sensitive nature of the incident and in order to protect the Survivors’ identities, no further details will be provided.

As a result of the investigation, on June 30th, 2022, Detectives of the Major Crime Unit arrested and charged the 56-year old man with the following:

  • Sexual Assault x2
  • Sexual Interference x2

The man appeared in bail court on today’s date.
