The weather was hot over the long weekend… driving was not!
The GSPS Traffic Management Unit, Rural Community Response Unit along with R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Officers were out over the long weekend targeting impaired and aggressive drivers. In four days, 70 charges were laid in Greater Sudbury.
A breakdown of those charges are as follows:
- Dangerous Driving – 1
- Assault Police Officer – 1
- Flight from Police – 1
- Impaired Drivers – 3
- Operate motor vehicle BAC over 80 – 3
- Stunt Driving – 3
- Speeding – 34
- Suspended Driving – 3
- Operating motor vehicle – no insurance – 4
- Operate unsafe vehicle – 3
- Fail to remain at collision – 2
- Careless Driving – 2
- Fail to have driver’s licence – 1
- Drive Motor vehicle improper licence – 1
- Operate Motor vehicle no plates – 1
- Fail to stop for police – 2
- Fail to pull over for emergency vehicle – 1
- Breach of Probation – 1
- Document violations – 3
