drugsJust before 6:00 p.m. on February 5, 2025, officers from the Community Response Unit (CRU) were on bike patrol downtown when they located an individual who was wanted on multiple outstanding arrest warrants on Elgin Street. The officers had information that the individual may be in possession of a firearm, therefore they requested additional units attend the area prior to affecting the arrest.

Shortly after 6:10 p.m., officers from the CRU and Patrol Operations took the individual into custody.

Upon searching the individual, officers located over $10,500 in cash, a knife and a loaded handgun. Officers also determined that the individual was wearing a bulletproof vest. Incident to arrest, officers then searched the bag the individual was carrying at the time and located 573.4 grams of Fentanyl, 234.1 grams of Methamphetamine, 468.6 grams of Cocaine, 237.6 grams of Hashish Oil and Oxycodone pills. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $117,000.

gun36-year-old, Andrew Fiddes has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);

  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon x3
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x4
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x3

Andrew Fiddes will attend Bail Court today, February 6, 2025, to answer to the charges.
