The pedestrian has been identified as a 26-year-old, woman from Greater Sudbury. Her name will not be released out of respect for the family's wishes.
Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends and those impacted by this incident.
RR55 is now open in both directions.

Shortly after 5:00 a.m. on January 13, 2025, officers were dispatched to the area of Simon Lake Road by Gorman Street in Walden in relation to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
The driver of the motor vehicle involved in the collision remained on scene.
Upon arrival, paramedics from Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services and officers from the Greater Sudbury Police Service began life-saving measures on the pedestrian who had been struck by the vehicle on the roadway. Unfortunately, the individual was pronounced deceased on scene. No further information related to their identity will be provided prior to the notification of their Next of Kin.
Currently, officers from the Traffic Management Unit remain on scene of RR 55 at Simon Lake Road and Gorman Street as the investigation into the collision is ongoing. RR55 will be closed for an unknown amount of time to traffic in both directions.
We are asking the public to avoid the area and find alternative routes of travel.
