Just after 8:30 p.m. on September 29th, 2024, the Greater Sudbury Police Service received a call for service regarding a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred on Lasalle Blvd at Barrydowne Rd in Greater Sudbury. The collision involved a vehicle and an individual on a mobility scooter.

First responders arrived on scene and began life saving measures on the 73-year old man who had been struck. Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services transported the man to the hospital; however, he was unfortunately pronounced deceased by medical professionals. His name will not be released out of respect for his family’s wishes. Our deepest condolences go out to all those affected by this tragic event.

The collision is being investigated by the GSPS Traffic Management Unit. Based on the investigation, it has been determined that impairment by alcohol or drugs was not a factor in this motor vehicle collision. No charges have been laid thus far.
