Shortly before 9:55 p.m. on November 29, 2024, officers were dispatched to a serious collision involving a pedestrian in the area of 761 Lasalle Boulevard.

Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service, Greater Sudbury Fire Services and Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers located the pedestrian who had sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian was transported to hospital by paramedics. Unfortunately, the 68-year-old, man succumbed to his injuries in the hospital and was pronounced deceased by medical professionals on December 1, 2024.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. His name will not be released out of respect for the family’s wishes.

Based on the investigation, it is believed that the pedestrian was walking in the centre lane when he was struck by a SUV travelling West on Lasalle Boulevard. The driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene.

Members of the Traffic Management Unit are investigating the collision. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
