Around 1:00 p.m. on February 24, 2021, our 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a call regarding a serious Industrial Incident on Powerhouse Road involving a heavy piece of equipment and a single occupant. City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic and Fire Services were dispatched to the area.

Upon arrival Paramedics and Firefighters located the 29 year old man who had sustained fatal injuries and was unfortunately pronounced deceased on scene. His name will not be released out of respect for his family’s wishes. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends and those impacted by this extremely tragic event.

Members of our Traffic Management Unit working in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office and the Ministry of Labour are investigation the incident. A post mortem will be conducted through the Coroner’s Officer in order to determine a cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
