The annual Greater Sudbury Santa Claus Parade will be held downtown on Saturday, November 19, 2022 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Members of our Traffic Management Unit and Patrol Operations will be closing and or controlling several lanes of traffic and roads to ensure the safe movement of parade participants and spectators.
We understand that this is an inconvenience to motorists, however it is necessary in order to ensure the safety of everyone involved in the parade.
Motorists should be aware of the following lane and road closures and take measures to avoid the affected areas:
• Southbound lanes on Notre Dame Avenue will be closed between Kathleen Street and Ste. Anne Road at 1:00 p.m.
• Notre Dame Avenue northbound between Elm Street and Leslie Street will be closed starting at 4:45 p.m. and will remained closed until all pedestrian traffic has cleared the parade area.
• Motorists can detour via Kathleen Street towards Frood Road or Bond Street, to Murray and Leslie towards Mountain Street.
• The downtown core will be closed to vehicle traffic between 4:45 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
• The neighborhood area contained by Kathleen, Davidson, College and MacKenzie Streets will be open to local traffic only.
It is recommended that all attendees park outside the parade perimeter or take public transit.
Parking will not be permitted along the parade route beginning at 4:00 p.m. – St. Anne’s Road, Elgin Street north of Larch Street, Durham Street and Elm Street. Vehicles will be ticketed and or towed at the owner’s expense.
The Murray Street area will be used by Emergency Services and Public Transit as an alternate route. Parking enforcement will be in effect in order to ensure safe passage as required.
Without exception, only on-duty First Responders attending calls will be allowed access inside the parade route perimeter.
We look forward to this being a fun-filled, community event and a kick-off to the upcoming festive season.
