From April 24-27th, 2024, GSPS Cst. Andrew Hinds and S/Sgt. Guy Renaud represented Team Canada at the Palmetto Police Motorcycle Skills Challenge in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
In total, there were 87 police riders from across the southern states, who practice and ride all year long.
Living in Greater Sudbury with the long winters we have, Cst. Hinds and S/Sgt. Renaud had not been on a motorcycle since last fall, with no opportunity to practice before the event.
Cst. Hinds won 1st place in the Last Rider Standing category.
S/Sgt. Renaud won 2nd place in the Novice Harley Windshield division.
Team Canada was made up of Cst. Hinds, S/Sgt. Renaud, Sgt. Byron Harding from Waterloo Regional Police and Cst. Gary Machell from the Toronto Police motor squad.
The Palmetto Police Motorcycle Skills Challenge is dedicated to providing a safe and challenging training opportunity to the motorcycle operators who attend, while simultaneously benefiting selected charities. This prestigious event showcases the skills and abilities it takes to operate a police motorcycle with rider safety in mind.
Way to go, guys! We are so proud of your accomplishments.
