Today is International Women's Day. It is an important day to acknowledge the achievements and contributions of women and to renew discussion about the importance of gender equality in Canada and around the world. Let's celebrate women's achievements. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality.
Today and every day, we celebrate the women who work and volunteer at GSPS and the strength they bring to our Service.
Throughout the month, we’d like to introduce you to some of the amazing women of our GSPS family.
Meet Ayla Belisle, GSPS Customer Service/Record Check Clerk:
Q: What inspired you to join the Greater Sudbury Police Service?
A: I’ve always enjoyed working in the public sector as it gives me an opportunity to develop good communication skills, build friendships within the community and workplace as well as engage personally with members of the public. It also provides me with a professional foundation which in turn would open a range of opportunities for career development and advancement.
Q: What’s the best part about your job? Why do you love doing what you do?
A: I honestly believe that the clients and customers are the best part of my job. I learn so much from the people of Sudbury and develop important skills in the process. I truly appreciate the impact that a happy and satisfied client/customer can have.
Q: What advice would you give to a girl or woman aspiring to join the policing profession/law enforcement field?
A: The world is changing every day, more opportunities are being presented and the possibilities are expanding. Women in policing are important for the community and are valued, appreciated and respected by our Police Service. If you’re a woman dreaming of a career in policing, there’s no better time than the present.
