March 8th is International Women's Day - a day to celebrate the women who work at GSPS, both Sworn and Civilian, and the strength they bring to our service.

Meet Sarah, our Multi-Media Marketing Specialist: woman standing and smiling

Q) What inspired you to become the Multi-Media Marketing Specialist at GSPS?

A) I grew up with GSPS as my father is a retired Police Constable and my mother worked in Property. GSPS has always been like a second home to me! I was thrilled when the opportunity to apply for this position came up. I felt I could put my skills to good use with an organization that I trust and believe in.

Q) What’s the best part about your job? Why do you love doing what you do?

A) The best part about my job is having the opportunity to to tag along with Officers for ride-alongs and see firsthand the tremendous work they do in our community. I also love attending community events and seeing our members engage with the public. No day is the same as the next. Creating videos and social media content allows me to be in so many different places – on the lake, in the bush, at training facilities, on the road. I love being able to showcase the amazing people of GSPS on our social media platforms! I wish words could express how much our members care about this community and the work they do behind the scenes. GSPS is truly a wonderful organization.

Q) What advice would you give to a young girl or woman aspiring to join the policing profession/law enforcement field?

A) If you love Policing but don’t necessarily want to be a Police Officer, there are SO many different avenues you can pursue in the field. My background is in Communication Studies and Public Relations, and now I work in a police service! No matter what you want to do, don’t ever close the door on yourself! Let someone else say no – never say no to yourself.
