Over the past week, officers have located, arrested and charged three individuals in connection to at least 15 commercial Break and Enters between August and December of this year.
On December 18, 2022, officers were dispatched to a business on Barrydowne Road after a man attempted to gain access to the building via the roof. The man fell through the ceiling and landed inside the business where he was confronted by an employee. The man fled on foot prior to police arrival.
Officers conducted a K9 track in the area and eventually located a man matching the description provided at the corner of Westmount Avenue and Barrydowne Road.
36 year old Shawn Palmaruk of Greater Sudbury was charged with the following offences in relation to this incident;
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Break, Enter and Commit
- Possession of Break-in Instruments
Detectives from our Break Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit have also connected him to an additional eight commercial Break and Enters in the area resulting in 11 additional charges.
On December 22, 2022, officers were dispatched to a residential building on Elgin Street in relation to an Unwanted Person. Upon arrival, BEAR Unit Detectives identified the person as 38 year old Barry Jeans of Greater Sudbury who was wanted on six outstanding Arrest Warrants for commercial Break and Enters between August and November. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was held overnight in order to attend Bail Court today to answer to the charges
Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, December 23, 2022, officers were dispatched to a business on Brady Street in relation to a Break and Enter that had just occurred. Information provided was that a man had attended the business, threw a rock through the window, entered the business and stole a cash box. The man then fled on foot prior to police arrival.
Officers including our K9 Unit attended the area and began a K9 track. Officers located the man in the bush off of Brady Street, as well as, the stolen cash box.
41 year old Marshal Kalynchuk of Greater Sudbury has been charged with Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence in relation to this incident. He was also wanted on a Bench Warrant for Fail to Attend Court and an Arrest Warrant for Break and Enter x2 in relation to additional commercial Break and Enters. He will attend Bail Court today to answer to all of the charges.
