On March 4, 2025, detectives from the Integrated Crime Section with the assistance of Patrol Operations, the Community Response Unit and the Emergency Response Unit conducted a traffic stop on Lorne Street in relation to individuals believed to be trafficking illicit drugs in Greater Sudbury.
As a result of the stop, the driver and two passengers from Greater Sudbury were arrested for drug charges.
Incident to arrest, detectives conducted a search of the individuals and vehicle. Detectives located approximately 237 grams of cocaine, anabolic steroids, a canister of pepper spray and $2,593 in cash. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $25,000.
46-year-old, Jason Laro, 33-year-old, Richard Panamick and 35-year-old, Renee Lambert have been charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Criminal Code of Canada:
- Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, to wit: Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, to wit: Steroids
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Jason Laro and Richard Panamick attended bail court on March 5, 2025, to answer to the charges. Renee Lambert was released on an appearance notice with a court date of April 23, 2025.
