Just before 6:20 p.m. on August 21st, 2024, the Greater Sudbury Police Service received a call for service in relation to a Weapons complaint on Elm Street. Information provided was that an individual had been stabbed after a brief verbal and physical altercation. The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to Police arrival.
Upon arrival, Officers located the victim who had sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The individual was transported to the hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services to be treated for their injuries.
Just after 6:30 p.m., Patrol Operations officers located the suspect on Elgin Street. He was arrested without incident and transported to Police Headquarters where he remained overnight. The 16-year old of Greater Sudbury has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Weapons Dangerous
He will attend bail court today, August 22nd, 2024 to answer to the charges. His name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
