UPDATE 4

On February 12, 2024, officers arrested and charged 41-year-old, Daniel Calestagne in relation to this matter. He has been charged with Assault and Forcible Confinement in relation to the incident that took place on December 1, 2023.

UPDATE 3

This afternoon, officers arrested and charged 42-year-old Joshua Dominguez with Assault and Forcible Confinement in relation to an assault that took place outside of an establishment on Durham Street on December 1, 2023.

We continue to request the public’s assistance in locating 41-year-old, Daniel Calestagne of Southern Ontario who is wanted in relation to the same assault.

Anyone with information related to the whereabouts of Daniel Calestagne is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171. 

UPDATE 2

Through the ongoing investigation, officers identified the two additional individuals believed to be involved in the incident.

Officers applied for and have been granted arrest warrants for 42-year-old, Joshua Dominguez and 41-year-old, Daniel Calestagne (image attached), both from Southern Ontario. Both individuals are being charged with Assault and Forcible Confinement.

UPDATE

On January 4, 2024, 30-year-old, Chase Gour-Boyd was arrested on the two arrest warrants and charged with various offences including Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Forcible Confinement in relation to two separate incidents that occurred on December 1, 2023.

We are still requesting assistance to identify two individuals involved in one of the assaults.

ORIGINAL

We are requesting assistance to locate 30-year-old, Chase Gour-Boyd who is currently wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants for two separate assaults that took place on December 1, 2023. We are also requesting assistance to identify two individuals involved in one of the two assaults.

Original incident reported to police

Around 1:25 a.m. on December 1, 2023, officers were dispatched to Durham Street in relation to a Weapons complaint. Information provided was that an individual was seen beating another individual with a shovel outside of an establishment on Durham Street. The individual believed to be responsible for the attack then went inside the establishment while the injured individual left the area on foot.

Officers attended the establishment and were unable to positively identify the individuals involved in the incident.

Just after 2:15 a.m. officers were dispatched to the hospital as City of Greater Sudbury Paramedics had transported an individual who had sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries consistent with the assault that had taken place on Durham Street.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officers reviewed video surveillance footage of the incident and identified the individual believed to be responsible for the assault. Based on the investigation, officers applied for and have been granted an arrest warrant for 30-year-old, Chase Gour-Boyd.

Second incident under investigation

While reviewing the video surveillance footage for the original incident reported to police, officers determined that another assault had taken place shortly before the incident involving the shovel. Officers observed video footage of three individuals holding a person while a fourth individual repeatedly assaulted the person. Officers identified two of the four people involved in the incident. One of those being 30-year-old, Chase Gour-Boyd and the second being 20-year-old, Tyler Cole who was arrested and charged on December 18, 2023.
