On January 16, 2024, officers were dispatched to an Assault reported after-the-fact. Information provided was that around 2:10 a.m. on January 13, 2024, a community member was outside an establishment on Cedar Street in Greater Sudbury when he was allegedly assaulted by an unknown individual. The community member was attempting to get into a taxi, when the unknown individual allegedly punched him in the head causing him to fall backwards into the street. The community member suffered minor injuries from the incident.
The unknown individual involved in the incident has been described as an approximately 30 years old, man who is tall with a slim build and a long dark beard. The unknown individual was wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt with a black design, blue jeans and an orange toque at the time of the incident (video attached).
The video surveillance footage captures the seconds leading up to the alleged assault, however, the taxi seen in the video blocks the view of the altercation.
Officers have exhausted all investigative avenues to identify the unknown individual involved in the incident, therefore, police are requesting the public’s assistance to identify the person described above and seen in the video footage.
