Over the weekend, from Thursday, December 17th to Saturday, December 19th, 2020, our Traffic Management Unit checked 1,512 vehicles in Greater Sudbury to ensure sober driving for our fourth Festive RIDE check of the season.
During the RIDE checks, our Officers arrested a 33-year old man wanted for robbery, as well as a 49-year old man who provided a false name to the roadside officer. Investigation revealed that the 49-year old man was bound by a Canada-wide drivers licence suspension in addition to three provincial driving suspensions. The man was subsequently arrested and charged for obstructing police, as well as the driving offences. Upon searching his vehicle, police located various quantities of illicit drugs. The man was then also charged with Possession.
Additional RIDE results were as follows:
· Approved Screening Device tests: 17
· Mandatory Alcohol Screening: 29
