Aggressive driving behaviours not only put the driver’s life at risk but also jeopardize the safety of all other road users. Our Traffic Management Unit is committed to ensuring safety on our roadways through high visibility, coupled with directed enforcement, to reduce the potential for collisions resulting in serious injury or loss of life.
We’ve received numerous complaints of ATV’s driving recklessly and causing damage, as well as excessive speeding by motor vehicles on roadways. Recently, the GSPS Traffic Management Unit conducted traffic enforcement and education initiatives in response to complaints around the community including Capreol, Hanmer, New Sudbury (Auger and Maley) and Garson.
Officers issued the following offence notices:
• 14 Speeding offence notices
• 1 No Licence charge
• 1 No Insurance charge
• 2 Suspended Driving charges
• 1 No Ignition Interlock charge
Officers stopped numerous vehicles including:
• Gas powered golf cart being driven on O’Neil Drive West by a male party who was a suspended driver and further had no licence plates on the motor vehicle
• A dirt bike that didn’t have a licence plate affixed to the rear
• Two motor vehicles that were speeding
• An ATV driver who was status never licenced
• Two warnings for seat belt use
On Falconbridge Road, a driver was charged with the following:
• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration that is equal to or exceeds 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood
• Operation while prohibited
• Use plate not authorized for vehicle
• Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
• Driving While Under Suspension X2
• Use validation not furnished for vehicle
The passenger stands charged with:
• Permit use plate not authorized for vehicle
• Permit use validation not furnished for vehicle
• Permit unlicenced person to drive motor vehicle
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Another Officer attended a single motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Dominion Drive near Municipal Road 80 in Val Caron. The driver left the scene of the collision and was located at his residence. That driver stands charged with:
• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration that is equal to or exceeds 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood
• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
