UPDATE 2
Based on the ongoing investigation into the murder of the 21-year-old, man on Lansdowne Street on April 6, 2025, Detectives from the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division have obtained images of the individual believed to be responsible for the murder (images attached).
Anyone with information related to the identity and whereabouts of the individual is asked to contact police immediately at 705-675-9171 extension 2320. This extension is a dedicated tip line for the active and ongoing murder investigation.
Through the investigation, it is believed that four individuals residing in Greater Sudbury knowingly assisted in hiding the truck containing the body of the deceased in the garage on Lansdowne Street.
As a result of the investigation, officers have arrested and charged 23-year-old, Jay Fournier, 22-year-old, Tori Toulouse and 25-year-old, Hailey Burnham with Accessory After the Fact to Murder.
Jay Fournier and Hailey Burnham will appear in Bail Court today, April 11, 2025, to answer to the charge. Tori Toulouse appeared in Bail Court on April 10, 2025, to answer to the charge and has since been remanded into custody through the judicial process.
All these individuals, including Monica Shawanda (arrested on April 7, 2025) are known to frequent the address on Lansdowne Street where the body was located. It is believed that this was a targeted attack.
UPDATE
Around 3:30 p.m. on April 7, 2025, Detectives from the Major Crime Section of the Criminal Investigation Division located and arrested 23-year-old, Monica Shawanda for Accessory After the Fact to Murder. It is believed that Monica Shawanda was the driver at the time of the incident and that she then hid the vehicle in the garage on Lansdowne Street where it and the deceased were later located.
Monica Shawanda was held in police custody overnight and attended Bail Court today, April 8, 2025, to answer to the charge.
As a result of the postmortem conducted through the Coroner’s Office, it has been confirmed that the deceased died as the result of multiple gunshot wounds. The deceased has been identified as a 21-year-old, man from Greater Sudbury. His name will not be released out of respect for the family’s wishes. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.
Officers continue to canvas the area for information and video surveillance footage.

Shortly before 3:25 p.m. on April 6, 2025, officers were dispatched to an address on Lansdowne Street for a suspicious vehicle. Information provided was that a Black 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 was found in a garage and there appeared to be an unresponsive man inside.
Greater Sudbury Fire Services, Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services and Greater Sudbury Police attended the scene. Firefighters gained entry into the vehicle and paramedics confirmed the individual was deceased. It is believed that the individual sustained a gunshot wound. At this time, it has not been determined where (geographic location) the individual was fatally injured.
The identity of the individual has not yet been confirmed. A postmortem will be conducted through the Coroner’s Office on April 8, 2025, to assist in identifying the individual and confirming the cause of death.
Officers cleared the residence at the address on Lansdowne Street and confirmed no occupants were inside. Officers continue to investigate the connection between the vehicle and the address where it was located.
Members of Patrol Operations and our Forensic Unit are on scene.
Officers will be canvassing the area for information and video surveillance footage.
Community members with video surveillance equipment in the area are asked to review the footage and contact police with any relevant information. Community members are also encouraged to register their video surveillance equipment on CAMSafe via www.camsafe.ca
