UPDATE 2
Just before 9:00 a.m. this morning, February 23, 2022, Detectives from our Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division located and arrested 45 year old Michael Grant in Port Stanley, Ontario on an Arrest Warrant for the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;
- Second Degree Murder
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition While Prohibited
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of Unauthorized Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
He will appear in Bail Court on February 24, 2022 to answer to the charges.
On February 5, 2022, Detectives executed a Search Warrant on Richmond Street in London, Ontario recovering a semi-automatic hand-gun, over 80 rounds of ammunition and illicit drugs believed to be Fentanyl.
As a result of the Search Warrant, 26 year old Tyrone Ifabumuyi was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- Accessory After the Fact of Murder
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Fail to Comply with Judicial Release Order
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance
- Possession for the Purpose of Distributing
UPDATE
Unfortunately, the 62 year old man who was transported to hospital as a result of this incident has been pronounced deceased. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. His name will not be released out of respect for his family’s wishes.
As a result of his death, this is now a Homicide investigation. Through the investigation it has been determined that the 62 year old man was with two other men, dressed primarily in black clothing when the incident occurred. Both men fled the scene prior to Police being called.
Patrol Officers and CID Detectives with the assistance of our K9 Unit completed an evidentiary ground search in the area of Bruce Avenue. Officers remain on scene and will continue to canvass for information and video surveillance footage.

ORIGINAL
Around 6:15 a.m. this morning, January 21, 2022, we received a call regarding a possible shooting on Bruce Avenue. Information provided was that multiple people were seen outside on the balcony of an apartment unit when a man was possibly shot.
Officers quickly arrived on scene and found a man who had sustained what is believed to be a gunshot wound. The man was transported to hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services with critical injuries.
The involved individuals fled the scene prior to Police being contacted.
Members of our Patrol Operations and Criminal Investigation Divisions are on scene and community members can expect an increased Police presence for a prolonged period of time as the investigation is ongoing. Detectives will be canvassing the area for information and video surveillance footage.
This is believed to be a targeted incident and we do not believe there to be an increased risk to the general Public.
