On August 6, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad issued information related to a Canada-wide Arrest Warrant for 26-year-old, Tyler Closs for breaching a Statutory Release Order while serving a 4-year, 6-month and 10-day sentence for:
- Aggravated Assault x2
- Assault Peace Office with Weapon or Imitation x2
- Obstruct Public/Peace Officer
- Assault – Threats Violence – Use of Force
As Tyler Closs is known to visit Greater Sudbury, officers and community members were on the lookout.
Just after 9:35 p.m. on August 8, 2024, a community member contacted the Greater Sudbury Police Service as they believed that Tyler Closs was present at an establishment on Lasalle Boulevard.
Officers from our Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and Patrol Operations quickly arrived on scene, confirmed the individual was Tyler Closs and immediately took him into custody.
Tyler Closs has since been transferred into the custody of the Sudbury District Jail without incident.
