UPDATE
Throughout the day yesterday, Monday, May 25, 2020, Detectives from our Criminal Investigation Division executed a Search Warrant at the residence on Christakos Street after an incident that extended close to 20 hours.
As a result of the Search Warrant a firearm, various ammunitions and a quantity of Methamphetamine were located and seized.
23 year old, Jayson Wright has been charged with the following offences;
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x2
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x2
- Utter Threat
- Possession of a Firearm/Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
30 year old, Andrew Martin has been charged with the following offences;
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x2
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x2
- Possession of a Firearm/Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
Both men have been remanded into custody as Detectives from our Criminal Investigation Division have applied for and been granted an additional Search Warrant for the outbuildings on the property that will be executed today, Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
Additional charges may be pending for both individuals and the investigation into this matter is ongoing.

Around 9:35 a.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2020, we received a call regarding a Weapons Complaint outside of a residence on Christakos Street in Greater Sudbury. Information provided was that two men were seen outside of a residence with what were described as illegal firearms.
Minutes later Patrol Officers arrived on scene; however the individuals had gone back inside the residence. Officers set up a perimeter and our Tactical and K9 Units were called to attend. Once additional Officers arrived on scene a man was seen exiting the residence. The 30 year old man was quickly taken into custody by a Patrol Officer without incident.
Our Tactical and K9 Unit set up containment of the residence as it was believed that one man remained inside the home and that he was in possession of multiple firearms. A section of Howey Drive was closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic to ensure Public and Officer Safety.
Throughout the incident, Officers made multiple attempts to contact and speak with the man inside the residence, however he was uncooperative.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. this morning, Monday, May 25, 2020, the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) Tactics and Rescue Unit (T.R.U.) and Emergency Response Team (E.R.T.) relieved our Tactical and K9 Units from the scene.
Around 5:30 a.m. O.P.P. T.R.U. and E.R.T. made entry into the home and took the 23 year old man into custody.
Both men remain in custody as the investigation into the incident is ongoing and Detectives from our Criminal Investigation Division will be executing a Search Warrant at the residence in relation to this matter.
Howey Drive has been reopened, however Patrol Officers remain on scene until the Search Warrant has been executed.
