Around 8:30 p.m. on October 31, 2023, two youths carrying their Halloween candy were in a park on Metcalfe Avenue in Garson when they were approached by two youths dressed in all black, wearing tactical style vests and masks. One of the two masked youths grabbed the bag of candy from the other youths and started to run away.
The two youths attempted to chase the two masked youths, however as they were chasing them, the two masked youths began shooting them with an air soft pistol.
Officers were dispatched to the area and located the two masked youths walking through a property off Falconbridge Road. As the officers approached the youths, they attempted to flee on foot.
Officers were able to catch one of the two youths; however the second youth was able to evade police. Upon searching the youth, officers located the replica gun and the tactical style vest.
The 14-year-old youth has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;
- Robbery with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Assault with a Weapon
- Disguise with Intent
The youth was released on an Undertaking with a court date of January 15, 2024.
The second youth remains outstanding. Anyone with information related to this incident or the identity of the second youth is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.
